Indian Dance Festival, Spring 2012
In February 2012, Kala The Arts worked with pupils from four school in Basingstoke to create and Indian Dance Festival in just one day!
Pupils from Fort Hill Community School, Winklebury Infants and Junior Schools and Castle Hill Infants School each spent the day with one of Kala The Arts' professional dancers to learn a new dance and then perform it to an audience of their family and friends. The event was a great success with all the pupils learning their dances well very and giving great performances of Kathak, Bollywood, and Indian hip-hop.
The evening was rounded off by performances from three of the participants from the open access classes and by one of the professional dancers, Showmi Das.
