Katha
The aim of the Katha Project was to engage with pupils and their families over a long period of time offering them regular classes in Indian dance and music. What is it linked to? Why phase 2? How long is 'a long period of time'
This project involved two infant schools- Castle Hill Infants and Marnel infants in the Autumn Term 2010. A series of workshops at both schools through September to November will culminate in a performance at each school in front of an audience on 18th November. In Spring 2011 Marnel junior school will join in. (this is confusing - it says they will perform on 18 nov but then says that they will join in in spring 2011)
A start up project with two new clusters Kingsclere and Fort Hill will involve more tutors over a concentrated period and all these schools will join together in performing at the Haymarket on 30th March 2011. These types of schools projects (? Explain the types of projects – the reader does not yet know what they are) have been going for a number of years and form the basis of Kala’s educational work.
They are very keenly engaged in by the Heads as Kala has an excellent reputation in delivering high class tuition and works on getting the young pupils interested and involved so they not only get health and lifestyle benefits but are enriched with a cultural experience and gain confidence in performing. Kala has an initiative to offer one pupil from each school who is exceptionally good and shows great potential the opportunity to have free lessons once a week at Fairfields Art Centre and the chance to perform
