We are very pleased to report that Kala The Arts exciting Odissi Journey Exhibition, which toured round Hampshire earlier this year, is going to be shown in London at The Bhavan on Sun 13th & Mon 14th October. Odissi Journey celebrates the heritage of Odissi dance, and the work of Sushmita Pati and Kala the Arts promoting Odissi Dance over the past 20 Years in the UK.
It consists of 17 free-standing illustrated panels and visual displays including a documentary film featuring the Executive Director of Bhavan Dr Nandakumar, Odissi teachers/dancers from U.K and Europe, Arts Managers, and a Museum Head in Hampshire. There is also a specially commissioned panel to honour the legacy of There is also a specially commissioned panel to honour the legacies of Padmashri Sanjukta Panigrahi and Surmani Padmashri Raghunath Panigrahi.
The exhibition is researched and produced by Kala The Arts, with the support of Heritage Lottery Fund.

There will also be a performance and a number of short speeches by very prestigious Guest Speakers on the 13th of October from 6.00pm to 7.30pm.

Guest speakers include the Executive Director of Bhavan Dr Nandakumar, Dr Ann David the Head of Dance at Roehampton, Padmashri Shayama Charan Pati, renowned Odissi Artist And Editor of Pulse Sanjeevini Dutta, distinguished guest Mira Mishra Kaushik OBE from Akademi, and a short documentation written by Jay Visvadeva Director of Sama Arts. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
