Kala The Arts' new dance company - Lasya Dance
Kala The Arts launched its new professional performing company, Lasya Dance, in 2011.
Lasya Dance uses inspirational contemporary work, drawing from classical Odissi dance movements to create a new, graceful and bold dance aesthetic. The company's work is to push traditional forms to new and rich conceptual ideas, choreographies for an international audience. Beyond Boundaries
This first piece premiered on the 30th of March 2011 at Haymarket Theatre and during the summer the quartet showcased its new work events throughout the region including the World Party in Eastrop Park on 2 July. Commissioned by Anvil Arts, Beyond Boundaries is part of the touring repertoire.
The dancers were Sitara Thobani, Rachel Perrett, Sabina Sen and Katrina Rute. Choreography was by Sushmita Pati and Cathy Seago and performed to an original music score by Liran Donin.

Purely captivating; the gentle gesticulations of hands, (linked together in perfect harmony with each respective dancer and
dance movement), was sure to stir uplifted spirits within an awe inspired audience.
This new piece by Lasya Dance Company was not only intelligent and respectfully authentic, the essence of the dance itself
gave ingenious interjections and meaningful reflections to the various themes - choreography set within the 21st Century.
A magnificent energy, coupled with soul searching beauty, this exquisite presentation will continue to captive the hearts of angels.
